Did You Know I'm Certified?

My favorite customer came into my store today! Despite how the workday goes, favorite customers can definitely do the trick. It’s always flattering when people prefer me over other baristas to make their drink. These customers know not to tell me how to do my job, or treat me like I’m stupid because they have taken the time and have had an open mind to realize that I’m capable. It’s refreshing when the roles are switched: They ask me how MY day is going and how I’VE been. Other than the fact that I’m serving them and they're paying for this interaction, it’s just simple human behavior.
Some people don’t realize that I didn’t come to work so that I could be the lucky person they step on today.
On a lighter note, today my favorite shift lead took it upon herself to present me with a LONG overdue Certified Barista pin. Two years of working at Starbucks, going through a whole new staff more than once, and one manager after another, I now have this pin to show for it. To others, it will seem like nothing, but to me this is a pick-me-up. I needed a boost and a feel of appreciation. I get kicked around enough by people all day, it figures a stupid pin and a favorite customer could make my night.

Intro: Concept

I have this concept. Although it's one that's been done before, out of boredom and/or desperation, I figure it wouldn't hurt to revisit this concept: The view behind the espresso machine- something simple and relative to my day-to-day work and life experience. Here, it's safe to say, "Hey. I'm not here for you, I'm here for me. It could either be humorous or disastrous but this is my outlet, uncensored. I tell it like it is. The smile isn't always genuine nor is it always there. And in all honestly, the customer is not always right."
